Bagged Impala Bubble Top LS V8 Automatic A/C Air Suspension
Full-size Chevys are some of the most recognized and beloved collector cars of all time. Their clean lines, tasteful trim and excellent proportions make for handsome rides with TONS of customizing potential. Not surprisingly, a wide array of these trademark classics populate shows around the country, and their builds range from correct, concours quality restorations all the way to wild creations which exceed the performance of some of today's fiercest muscle. Somewhere between perfected trailer queens and temperamental custom machines, you'll find cars like this sweet 'bubble top' Impala. Wrapping vivid red two-stage around a modern drivetrain and a roster of choice upgrades, this hot resto-mod is an exceptional cruiser that's ready for years of show and miles of go!
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PROFILE
Buff, bad and ready to rock and roll, this svelte Impala is the beneficiary of a detailed, frame-off restoration that was completed by one dedicated enthusiast who's spent decades building awesome classics. That high quality reboot dressed solid sheetmetal in a vivid coat of glossy PPG two-stage. And today, the car walks a fine line between tastefully modern and traditionally conservative.
In the early 1960s, Chevrolet's newly anointed line topper certainly did its fair share to pad the polishing industry. And, as with its sculpted body, all of this Impala's retro chic jewelry has been returned to glare-inducing brilliance. At the front of the car, a polished grille hangs a bright Chevrolet crest between a guarded bumper, clear parking lamps and old school halogen headlights. Above that grille, a wide-set “CHEVROLET” script leads cool fender toppers above jet-inspired profile spears that are garnished with ornate Impala badging. A legendary 'bubble top' greenhouse bends flashy stainless trim between polished wipers and cool bowtie mirrors. And at the back of the car, Impala-exclusive taillights illuminate a second guarded bumper beneath flat fins that terminate at a second Chevrolet crest.
PROVEN LS POWER
Exercise this Impala's billet Eddie Motorsports hood supports and you'll find an even six liters of 21st Century small block that's top notch in virtually every way! At the front of that mill, a familiar K&N filter slinks breeze into a mechanical throttle body. Stylish FAST fuel rails trace a lightweight GM intake, which caps reliable 862 heads that are dressed in custom valve covers. An iron crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons create stout compression. That compression gets sparked by quality Taylor plug wires, which are cleanly loomed to relocated coils. A hydraulic roller cam utilizes quality roller rockers to maximize intake efficiency. Speaking of breathing, that smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases through beefy Hooker headers. There's a polished Champion radiator that's slid between a fabricated overflow and spry puller fans. Holley serpentine components spin a blacked out alternator opposite a blacked out AC compressor. And, as you likely deduced from our high-resolution photos, the Chevy Orange mill rolls in a clean, Satin Black frame that's finished with niceties like an Optima battery, Lokar sticks, a glass washer bottle and a choice Wilwood master cylinder.
BADDER AND BETTER
Under the car, solid, lovingly undercoated floors shade a massaged chassis that's been thoughtfully upgraded with an aftermarket sway bar and fully adjustable Air Lift air springs. The trusty LS motor powers a dressed 4L60E 4-speed, which utilizes an EZ-TCU controller to spin a familiar GM dropout. Easy turns are funneled through power-assisted steering. Red GM calipers use modern power assist to squeeze a quartet of vented rotors. Wrapped exhaust floats spent gases through throaty Flowmaster mufflers. And all that premium hardware rolls on chromed Coys C-5s, which spin 245/35R18 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s in front of 275/35R20 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s.
KEEP IT TRADITIONAL
Hit the button for this hardtop's power-operated locks and you'll find virtual acres of stylish cloth and vinyl upholstery that add big comfort to traditional appeal. An ornate dash plants crisp Dakota Digital VHX telemetry behind controls for Vintage Air conditioning and retrofitted dials for the car's trick springs. A Bluetooth-capable Custom Autosound head unit bumps big kick speakers. Those cones shade clean carpet, which frames a billet accelerator pedal between factory side panels that sport billet door handles, billet window cranks and billet lock knobs. The driver spins a reduced diameter wheel, cribbed from a 1960 Impala, around a tilting Ididit column. And the passengers store essentials in a positively massive trunk that's finished with billet hinges.
From the local show to the local strip, this fantastic Chevy will impress fans and critics alike. It's a highly desirable classic that's been tweaked with all the right stuff to be a fun, head-turning cruiser. Shopping for some super cool metal that you can enjoy day in and day out? Your search is officially over!
